Dr. Subhasmita Dash
Postdoctoral Researcher
She is a hydroclimatology researcher working at the intersection of climate change, hydroclimatic extremes, and their impacts on society and ecosystems. Her research focuses on analyzing and modelling changes in hydroclimatic extremes, including individual extremes such as heatwaves, cold waves, heavy precipitation events, and droughts, as well as compound extreme events. She has also worked on precipitation-temperature scaling relationships and the key drivers shaping hydroclimatic changes across different climatic regimes. Beyond hazard characterization, her work extends to assessing the societal and environmental consequences of climate change through analyses of population exposure to compound extremes and climate-vegetation interactions, including future changes in vegetation health under warming scenarios. Some of her ongoing research includes ecosystem resilience, energy-water limitation regimes, and climate-informed hydrological risk assessment for resilient water infrastructure.
